Tips & Tricks

What is source tagging?

Source tagging is the process of affixing security tags to your DVD products during the DVD manufacturing process. Source tagging is required by many retailers and is used to help prevent shoplifting and for loss prevention. The most popular source tag used in the CD and DVD industry is the Sensormatic tag, which is a small plastic strip that contains an acoustic resonator inside. If you walk out of a store without the tag being disabled at the register, the surveillance sensors located at the exit door will detect the tag and set an alarm.
