Burning
Audio CD vs. Data CD
Audio
and data CDs differ in the manner in which files are 'written'
to the disc. Data CDs are created in an "as-is" state meaning
that the files are transferred to the disc without any
additional encoding or decoding.
Audio CDs, on the
other hand, are created by converting an existing digital
audio file (MP3, wav) to an uncompressed CDA file, a 44.1 kHz,
16-bit stereo format. CD burning software makes the process
seamless to the end user.
